34 Weeks

34 weeks!!
According to Babycenter: Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. His fat layers — which he'll need to regulate his body temperature once he's born — are filling him out, making him rounder. His skin is also smoother than ever. His central nervous system is maturing and his lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.
We saw Cheri for our 34 week appointment yesterday and my mother in law Judi was able to come with us. His heartbeat sounded awesome at 148 bpm- it sounds so strong now like a real heartbeat not like the swish swish swish it did in the beginning- cool. I am measuring at 35 cm- again right within range, and have gained 1 more pound. So, once again I am lucky enough to say all is well. I see Cheri again in two weeks, and then may begin weekly appointments until he arrives- time continues to fly. This means there are only 6 weeks until our due date- meaning he can arrive anytime in the next 3-7.5 weeks- perhaps I should start washing some clothes for him soon...
After the appointment Ryan, Judi and I all headed to State Fair for 8.5 hours of walking, eating and shopping. It was wonderful! We had a blast and tasted delicious things (including the chocolate covered bacon which I have to say was not offensive but I did not like it much), watched a cow show, petted horses, ogled pigs and checked out every exhibitor in the expo hall. I am tired and my feet are sore today but it was very much fun.
