According to BabyCenter: Your baby doesn't have much room to maneuver now that he's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew). Because it's so snug in your womb, he isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times he kicks should remain about the same. His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete — he'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.
This kid is getting pretty cooked! Technically they say full term is 37 to 42 weeks so the countdown can kind of begin- anywhere from 2 to 7 weeks and he can be here (okay that range sounds ridiculous). He has some really active days and then some kind of slow days- kind of like me I guess :) He has decided that he does not like it when I bend over while sitting and eating dinner to lean over my plate and at times kicks or stretches so forcefully that I have to stop eating and lean back for a while. Perhaps soups and pastas and stuff that requires leaning over a plate will be off the menu for a while...
My mom got to feel him engaging in some wild acrobatics last weekend- he put on quite a show for her but still refuses to do so for his daddy. Ry only gets the occasional kick- never the flips and stretches and turns that I feel all the time. The Schmitzel likes to wait until Daddy falls asleep and then start the big show- and while I want Ry to get to feel it all I am not sure how enthusiastic he would be about being woken up for it.
The restless legs continue but are better than they were at their worst. Warm baths really seem to be helping at night along with my magnesium supplement- but I am a bit concerned about how much longer I will be able to safely get in and out of the bathtub. Our tub is standard- maybe smallish- tub with no lip on one side and the maneuvering required to get in and out is getting trickier. But the baths are so lovely that I will probably keep trying until the day I get stuck and Ry has to come save me.
